Who we are & What we do?
The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) is one of the world’s premier research centers where the world’s best and brightest scientists work and collaborate for the achievement of goals and objectives. IRRI’s Physical Plant Services (PPS) supports the Institute’s mission by constructing, operating and maintaining its facilities to ensure that the highest standards of quality and safety are maintained at all times. One important aspect of ensuring that PPS is working on this level of standards is to have an established and organized Operations Manual that will serve as a guide to all activities pertaining to construction, operation and maintenance work at IRRI Research Center and Staff Houses.
PPS staff keeps all operating procedures in proper working condition by having a detailed preventive maintenance plan, project proposal and project management plan, and responding to the repair needs of the IRRI community not to mention the detailed administrative procedure from labor and materials charging and budget pre-approval to billing.
Mission
• To provide safe, fast, courteous and cost efficient maintenance repair and engineering services to all IRRI research programs and residential areas.
• To set up and implement a regular preventive maintenance program for all buildings, equipment and utility installations, i.e. power, water, communications, etc.
• To keep maintenance, repair, and construction costs within the budget and schedule without sacrificing service and work quality.
• To ensure efficient utilization of available manpower.
• To mitigate time loss due to accidents and prevent damage to property.
